The Haller Castle from Coplean, Cluj, Romania was built between 1721-1771, designed in a baroque style. Forgotten for decades, it currently stands on the verge of collapse.

The castle is located few kilometres from Dej, Romania (the approximate location pointed on Google Maps). Initially I thought that I might be able to gather more information about the castle, but all my efforts were with no success. In its current state, the castle has a very eerie look, but nevertheless it still keeps its elegant and elaborate baroque style.

Lately I discovered a lot more monuments like this - some were abused and transformed in stables during the communist era, while the luckiest were abandoned to nature's decay. Once jewels and symbols of pride, now most of them can be regarded only as rubble.
