I have neglected the photography section for a few weeks, one of the main reasons being the fact that I'm a bit reluctant of writing descriptions. Nevertheless, I really want to stick with this "custom" - a textual description can provide further insight regarding a photo, especially with regard to what I want express.
As for this photo, I'll admit it's one of those random shots that one takes when they are bored. The title is inspired by a wonderful song by Persephone - having of course, the same title. It's also black and white, probably because I was in a "black and white period" when I took this. I am actually thinking about making a short black and white series; it might be something different - and it might also be a new challenge.
I am aware that the topic of black and white photography has been exploited very much lately. There's also this common belief that a black and white shot is artistic by definition; while I've never been too fond of stereotypes, this one might have a bit of truth. A black and white photograph is lacking any form of colour; normally this should be seen as a loss of detail and as an inability to express the real world. But this might also be the reason why black and white photos can seem more appealing - there are no distracting colours around, and the eyes can focus more on shadows and the way light is modelled around the objects in the scene.
Either way, before ending this post, I want to announce that my music is not gone; I've just rewound the tape and started listening to it again.
