It was a rainy night ...

It was a rainy night ...

Usually it takes me a few days, weeks or months before I publish a photo. One of my literature teachers from the primary school advised us to always read our compositions again the next day, because in this way we'll spot errors that might not seem so obvious at first. I believe this theory can be applied to many things; and this is why it usually takes me some time before I upload a photo that I've finished working on.

This time I was in the mood to try something different. Maybe it won't work at all, but I really feel the need of breaking the pattern here. Besides, there are photos waiting in the queue for months; this is not working any more. I was planning to upload photos on regular basis, like a photo per week or so. But as obsessed as I can be with some patterns, others just don't appeal to me. Always be free!

But let's get back to the scene. I must admit; it's quite a fresh one! I've took the photo this evening, with no plans whatsoever. I was going for some rain shots, with droplets on the glass and street lights, when I've noticed my long shadow against the furniture. Hey, that looks nice ... let's change the plans. It took me a few shots until I've managed to capture the fingers as I wanted. I still think I could have done something better, but I won't brag about this now. And no, the noise wasn't planned but let's say that it fits the bill.

"We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us." (Magnolia, 1999)

From the first time I've seen this film, I've loved this quote. It also fits quite well with the rain theme; the film is dominated by a rainy night; also, I've first seen this film after a not so pleasant rainy night. Today was quite rainy as well, and it was also a day when the hand of the past stretched to reach the present. No, there are no demons here ... they're just inside the drawer ...
